Cécile Kayirebwa (1946), born in Kibali, Rwanda, was a social worker and took refuge in Belgium because of the war in 1973. She has been living there ever since. She was part of the groups Iyange and Bula Sangoma, performed at important festivals and recently contributed vocally to the movie Shooting Dogs from 2006 about the genocide in Rwanda. She released 4 cassettes and 3 CD’s till now, of which the CD “Rwanda” from 1994 is the best known. Beautiful emotional music with clear roots in the Rwandese tradition.
