Preferably in strings.
The American double bass player Edgar Meyer prefers to play his instrument ‘con arco’: with his bow. He is also really good at plucking though! Meyer started out as a bluegrass musician and later also made a name for himself as a classical musician, for example by performing Bach’s suites for cello on double bass. He recently returned to his roots with a record filled with duets with mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile. In this episode we go on with parts of Edgar’s solo album from 2005, on which he plays all instruments himself: besides double bass also piano, guitar, mandolin and banjo.
