Singer Dinah Washington (1924-1963). She began at a young age as a gospel singer and then joined Lionel Hampton’s band. She was most widely known as a rhythm & blues singer, but in 1954 she recorded a jazz album for EmArcy with lots of celebrities such as Clifford Brown, Clark Terry, Max Roach and Harold Land.
