With a guest in the studio: pianist Jeroen van Vliet, who brings his favourite music.
Jeroen van Vliet gained national fame for the first time when he won the first prize as well as the soloist prize during the Middelsee Jazztreffen in 1985. Three years later, he won at the NOS/Meervaart Podium with the Iris group. From that moment, he became one of the most popular pianists in the world of Dutch jazz. For many years after that, he was the main pianist in alto saxophone player Paul van Kemenade’s quintet, and in the Quadrant group by bass player Eric van der Westen. His own trio, with bass player Frans van der Hoeven and originally DrĂ© Pallemaerts, and later Pascal Vermeer on drums, has made a number of CDs for which the trio took up temporary residence in the famous Rainbow Studio in Oslo. In Eric Vloeimans’ group Gatecrash, Jeroen played on Fender Rhodes and he could also be heard playing this instrument in other bands. He currently works with the Estafest! band, with the Simin Tander 4tet and with his own Ogu-trio. In the meantime, Jeroen has performed on podiums around the world, from China to South Africa, from Korea to Sri Lanka and the United States.
