Leo Records night.
Leo Records is an independent British record label that produces jazz records, especially new, innovative and improvised jazz. The label was founded in 1969 by Russian immigrant Leo Feigin, and since then he has produced more than 700 titles and over 500 CDs. The label encompasses four labels: Leo Records, Leo Lab, Golden Years of New Jazz and FeetFirst Records. Feigin founded the label in order to give more prominence in the West to jazz from the Soviet Union and to promote jazz musicians from his country. Initially, mainly records appeared of Russian musicians such as Anatoli Vapirov, Vyacheslav Ganelin’s trio and Simon Nabatov. Later, records by western jazz musicians followed, such as Anthony Braxton, Marilyn Crispell, Gebhard Ullmann, Maggie Nicols, Sun Ra, Art Ensemble of Chicago, Evan Parker, Eugene Chadbourne, Cecil Taylor and Ned Rothenberg.
