Trumpet player Joe Newman (1922-1992). Like many American musicians of his generation, he got his musical training from education. Even when he was a renowned soloist for the Count Basie Band, Newman remained loyal to musical education via ‘Jazz Interactions’ – an attempt to inform a young audience about his music.
