Metamorphosis

Many visitors of music festivals suffer from a  mild form of schizophrenia. On the one hand they hope to be surprised by unfamiliar groups with beautiful new music. But on the other hand they secretly want to  be swept away on the waves of the memory. Luckily most festivals are organized to meet these split longings. This definitely counts for the  Festival InterCeltique in Lorient that is held for the 44th time this year.

This year the main theme was Ireland, but visitors were surprised with performances by Anoushka Shankar and the Senegalese griot Seckou Keita with Irish harpist Catrin Finch, musicians you would not immediately connect with the Celtic  tradition.

In this episode of Metamorphosis a relative random selection from the performing artists to give an idea of the familiar as well as the new on this Breton feast. Because there are no live recordings available yet, you will have to do with earlier recordings. If these artists have surprised us at the festival with beautiful new music, we hope to broadcast that in the next episode.
