Recently published popular Pakistani and Indian Music
Fariha Pervez and Muazzam Ali Khan
In the first fifteen minutes two songs of the (in Pakistan) very popular female singer Fariha Pervez.
First she sings together with singer Muazzam Ali Khan and in the next song we hear her together with the famous Pakistani singer Alamgir.
Followed by two jazzy upbeat-tempo tracks of the adventurous album A South Asian Suite, performed by a British-Asian group led by clarinet player Arun Ghosh.
Next is the group Maati Baani from Indian Mumbai. Led by female singer Nirali Kartik, Maati Baani really shows who they are and what they do in this broadcast, with four contagious songs which are a happy mixture of blues, funk and Indian folk music.
Abida Parveen
The final part of the broadcast is reserved for none less than Abida Parveen, the legendaryPakistani female singer of the devotional Sufi song, who gave a performance last June at the Holland Festival.Abida Parveen sings two captivating songs: the first one together with the famous Indian sitar player Ustad Rais Khan, in the song Mein Sufi Hoon, and the second one with the equally legendary singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, in a hypnotising interpretation of the song Chaap Tilak.
