Hello-Hello.jpgDeladap.jpg

1/ French double bass player Renaud Garcia-Fons mixes Western classical music with world music and jazz. The result is both relaxing and stimulating: the bass play by Garcia-Fons is virtuoso and expressive. The many percussion instruments add an exotic element to the trio’s music and the strong melodies are full of variation and rich themes.
CD: Entremundo van Renaud Garcia-Fons.
Label: Enja Records (2004), code: ENJ-94642.

2/ Midival Punditz.
An Indian fusion group consisting of two Delhi-based musicians, Gaurav Raina and Tapan Raj. Their style revolves mostly around changer, jungle, electronica and North Indian classical music. Their songs commonly feature traditional Indian instruments but also modern instruments such as the synthesizer and drum machine. The album ends with an acoustic version of Electric Universe, a perfect chill out moment.
CD: HelloHello by Midival Punditz.
Label: Six Degrees Records (2004), code: 657036 1157-2.

3/ Deladap.
Cigani
Rusza + Angelo is Deladap’s debut album containing old gipsy music traditions, but they also use jazz, pop, Eastern European tones and modern electronic sounds. This versatility is not just shown by the variety in beautiful songs but it also becomes clear when drums are being replaced by metal tins. Deladap sends us on a marvellous journey into the world of modern, urban Roma, which refers proudly and self-confidently to their roots.
CD: Cigani Ruzsa + Angelo van Deladap.
Label: Eco. Chamber (2004), code: ECR011-1. New release: Chapeau Nouveau (2011), CCR-023-2.
