Tonight you can listen to part 2 of aprogramme about contemporary Balkan- and klezmer music, which is in development worldwide and more popular than ever. We will play the latest songs from Daniel Kahn, Fanfara Tirana, Modern Klezmer, Adrian Raso & Fanfare Ciocarlia, Mames Babegenush, Taraf de Haidouks among other things to end the night with music from Pressburger Klezmerband.
Daniel Kahn is a socially committed musician who sings about unemployment, war, resistance fighters and love amidst the ruins of the war. You can listen to the fourth album of Daniel and the Painted Bird getiteld Bad Old Songs.

We will now continue with the meeting between Fanfara Tirana from Albania and Transglobal Underground from London. Fanfara Tirana is formed in 2002 by people from the Albanian army who decided to start a brass band. Transglobal Underground is a multicultural collective from London.

Duo Doyna consists of Annette Maye and Martin Schulte. Their latest album which is released recently is entitled Sammy’s Freylach.

Devil’s Tale is a meeting between the oriental field of force of Balkan brass and gypsy jazz. The manouch guitar style of the Canadian guitarist Adrian Raso fits in with the Romanian band Ciocarlia.

In 2004 a couple of Danish wind players decided to
form the Klezmer ensemble: Mames Babegenush (babegenush is an aubergine salad). Soon they got asked to play at all the Jewish parties in Denmark. Listen to their recently released album entitled Mames Babegenush.

Taraf de Haïdouks has got another jubilee. They celebrate their 25th anniversary with a new album with the appealing title Of Lovers, Gamblers & Parachute Skirts. With this jubilee album, Taraf de Haïdouks brings together the past and present in a rich colour of styles, which pays tribute to their parents’ generation.
