Composer: Gloria Coates

Queen of Suspense Gloria Coates.
The American composer Gloria Coates (77) knows more than anybody else to unleash suspense and drama in her music. Breathtaking glissando and darkly-tinted microtonal sound eruptions are alternated with unsuspected lyrical themes. Coates has been working and living in Germany for ages. Her intense work has rarely if ever been performed in the Low Countries. Coates’ music fortunately has been perpetuated on CD by various labels. In her oeuvre there is a theme of ten string quartets and sixteen symphonies. In this Theme broadcast a generous choice form her big works, with work for string quartet, orchestra, harp and guitars.
