Conductor, composer and pianist Duke Ellington (1899-1974) part 53. One of the most important meetings from the history of jazz: the one between Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong. Ellington brought 17 compositions, played the role of ‘musical director’ and played – in stead of Billy Kyle, Armstrong’s normal pianist – piano in the Louis Armstrong All Stars.
