Tenor saxophone player Buddy Tate (1913-2001). Since 1939, Tate was a member of the band of Count Basie for a long time. In 1953, Tate started his own band during a long stay at the famous Celebrity Club in Harlem. He recorded a few albums with this band and went on tour.
