Abavuki live during Haarlemmerhout festival 2015, Haarlem
In tonight’s Concertzender Live you will hear the South African Marimba band Abavuki, which performed during the Haarlemmerhout festival of 2015.
Abavuki is a many-sided group: the musicians sing a cappella, play exciting marimba and percussion but also have a swinging brass section. They are influenced by kwaito, jazz, traditional rhythms but also afro beat.
Abavuki was formed around the end of 2001 and started with their interpretation of African jazz.
