Modou Touré & Ramin Goose.
A British guitar player and a Senegalese singer in a unique collaboration which surprisingly turned out all right. All song are written and arranged by Modou Touré and Ramon Goose and are sung in Wolof, Mandinka and French. The lyrics are remarkable – in the title Western Comfort, Africans are for example warned not to forget that the important things of life can be found in Africa, and not in the “comfortable” West. Modou Touré is the son of Ousmane Touré, who achieved world fame with his band Touré Kunda. Ramon Goose worked together with among others kora-virtuoso Diabel Cissokho and Mississippi Delta bluesman Boo Boo Davis. CD. The West African Blues Project by Modou Touré & Ramin Goose. Simone Alves & Yann Gourvil.
The Astrakan Project B started as a duo project by Simone Alves (vocals) and Yann Gourvil (stringed instruments), both not Breton, but intensly living in the Breton culture. They have lived for several years in Istanbul, that’s why there are Middle-Eastern sounds and instruments in their performances. Astrakan project B is where old Breton legends magically merge with soulful and dark rock energy. CD. Astrakan Project B by Simone Alves & Yann Gourvil. Label: Astrakan (Karga 44 / 8712618001349).
