On Wednesday 29 June, the much-praised and much loved singer Veena Sahasrabuddhe passed away in Pune, India at the age of 67. She was one of the great interpreters of the North Indian raga in the khyal genre, a genre known for its room for improvisation. To commemorate the passing of Veena Sahasrabuddhe, you will hear a few of her raga interpretations, coming from the album ‘Tarana – Flights of Melody’, from 1994 (label: Music Today).
