The last part of our three-part series on Léo Ferré (1916-1993), who was born hundred years ago in Monte Carlo.
Today, music from the years since 1968, when Ferré was at the height of his popularity. Tragedies in his private life, like the violent death of his ‘house monkey’ and the end of his marriage, led to a few wonderful chansons: Pepée en Avec le temps. In the year soixante-neuf, the sensual C’est extra became his biggest seller.
In 1970 Ferré moved to Toscany, where he became a father and recorded various records with the National Symphony Orchestra of the RAI from Milan. Right up to his death he kept writing and recording new chansons, some of which were released after he passed away.
