The Palace of Nostalgia

Jazz, blues and nostalgia, by Sjaak Roodenburg.

A lot of Sinatra in this Palace and the boy wonder on the accordion, Joë Rossi with the world hit he had at the age of 13: ‘Czardas’. Also, beautiful hopeless wistfulness of Dutch-Swedish troubadour Cornelis Vreeswijk (‘Misschien wordt het morgen beter’ (Maybe tomorrow will be better), remarkable Australian singer-violinist George Washingmachine, musical star Fran Warren, jazz diva Sarah Vaughan, vibraphone player Lionel Hampton with Oscar Peterson, Nat King Cole, ‘Roses in the rain’ by lounge singer Matt Dennis, clarinet pioneer Omer Simeon, folk group The Weavers, and attention for Rita Reys, Frank Sinatra & Doris Day and the film ‘Young at Heart’ which will be one of the main attractions on 11 December in the afternoon at the Dutch Sinatra Society. In short, an hour of filled with music of yore.
