Concertzender Live

sat 3 dec 2016 02:00 hrs

This is Concertzender Live with a concert recording of singer Aziza Brahim, recorded on 7 October 2016 in the Eduard Flipse hall of the Doelen in Rotterdam.

Singer and percussionist Aziza Brahim was born in a refugee camp in the Western Sahara in Algeria. The camps were surrounded by a long military wall and by eight million land mines. It was difficult to reach the outside world. Aziza comes from a musical family. Her favourite pastime as a girl was competing with her sisters about who could write the best songs, using the rest of the family as judges.

After studying in Cuba, Aziza now lives in Barcelona where she is still greatly invested in the state of affairs of her people, which is evident in the lyrics of her latets album ‘Abbar el Hamada.’ The CD is well received around the world and she sings ten songs from this album. Her group consists of:
Aziza Brahim, vocals and tbal, a traditional drum
Pep Mendoza, guitar,
Guillem Aguilar, bass guitar
Aleix Tobias, drums
