Ethiopian group Fendika live at the Afrika Festival Hertme on 6 July 2014
The Afrika Festival Hertme is one of the most vibrant festivals in The Netherlands! This two-day music festival has been take place at the wonderful, green open-air theatre Hertme since 1989.
Fendika is the house band of the famous ‘Fendika Azmari Bet’ in Addis Abeba, a traditional music bar, where music is made every night. This Ethiopian music group consist of the six best Azmari musicians from Addis Ababa, who have won their spurs as traditional folk singers and at the same time, add new creative elements and sounds to an ancient musical tradition. The group consist of two dancers, a singer and three musicians who alternate between the Kebero drums, Masenko (one string, bent violin) and Krar (a five or six stringed lyre).
