Doulce Mémoire | Verdelot & Ganassi

Label: Ricercar: RIC371 (2016)

In 1535 the Italian Sylvestro Ganassi published the first written account on the art of musical embellishment. He wrote is specially for flute players and the recorder player of the Doulce Mémoire ensemble, Denis Raisin Dadre, applied those rules to Italian dancing music known as fróttola and to the madrigals of Philippe Verdelot. It’s similar to what happening in jazz today.

So basically, this programme is an hour of jazz from the Renaissance with the Doulce Mémoire ensemble.
