Thorwald Jørgensen. (NL).
Thorwald Jørgensen is a Dutch theremin player, als known as a “thereminist”. At the age of 14, Thorwald Jørgensen received his first lesson in percussion from Peter Elberse, a timpanist at the Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra. After high school, he studied percussion at the conservatoires of Utrecht and Tilburg, where he was taught by Werner Otten, Hans Zonderop, Johan Faber and Peter de Vries. He graduated at Arnold Marinissen as a Performing Musician. The theremin was a logical step after percussion. This instrument requires a good separate coordination of the right and left hand, just like percussion does. Thorwald was coached by Saskia Boon, a former cello player of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam. Under her, he studied the repertoire of string instruments and originals compositions for the theremin.
