The Source of Sound involves the material, the movement and the vibration of which music arises.
Special: Walter Slosse
Walter Slosse
The last Source of Sound is devoted to world music pioneer and radiomaker Walter Slosse, who died earlier this year. For almost 40 years, he was on Dutch radio, with programmes such as the ‘Witte Doek’, ‘Urubicha’ and ‘de Wandelende Tak’. Programmes, where he talked about history, cultuur and diversity of mankind through music. He gave a voice to music genres and stories that where not heard anywhere else on the radio and have disappeared ever since, except at the Concertzender, from Dutch public radio. He opened doors to the world and has deeply influenced many people with his shows. In today’s Source of the Sound you will hear memories and musing of five of those people: Michel Baird, Willem Bruls, Anne van Oostrum, Maxim Chapochnikov and Heiko Jessayan, who all worked with Walter Slosse and selected several music pieces in his honour.
