Jordi Savall

Series about and with Catalan gambist and conductor Jordi Savall. In episode 78, we look at female troubadours, the “Trobairitz”.

This time we look at female troubadours in the South of France, the Provence, in the 12th and 13th century, the “Trobairitz”. Jordi Savall, along with Hespèrion XX, recorded several songs of these courtly ladies in 1996 on their album Cansos de Trobairitz.
A little after Christmas, we listen to el Cant de la Sibil-la, that was traditionally performed on Christmas Eve on Mallorca and in Spanish regions, like Catalonia.
