Brazil In A Nutshell. The wealth of Brazilian music by Juliano Abramovay. Episode 5

Tonight, our selection of instrumental music that was influenced by Sertão, a province in north-eastern Brazil. Sertão is desertlike area, and so it’s no surprise that the music is very different from the tropical Samba or Bossa Nova that we’re used to calling Brazilian music. In it, the influence of Andalusian culture is tangible, that Portugese colonists brought along in the 16th century.
