The now almost forgotten tenor saxopone player Tina Brooks (1932-1947) first played in R&B bands before he joined the famous Blue Note label. As a band leader, he only recorded 4 albums there, of which just one was released during his lifetime. Attention to this undervalued musician who, troubled by personal adversities and drug abuse, sank into oblivion as early as 1961.
