Brazil in a Nutshell

fri 1 sep 2017 22:00 hrs

The richness of Brazilian music by Juliano Abramovay. Episode 5.

Tonight we will play our selection of instrumental music from Sertão, a region in the northeast of Brazil. Sertão is a desertlike area and, as one might expect, the music here is very different from the tropical samba and bossa nova we are used to when we think of Brazilian music. You can feel the influence of the Andalusian culture which came into the country in the early 16th century, due to the Portuguese colonization.
