In our ‘living room’, Karin van den Boogaert and Carolien Cleiren welcome a variety of world music performers. Today: The Folk Road Show.
The Folk Road Show is an international musical collective, consisting of 5 singer-songwriters and multi-instrumentalists from New Zealand, Canada and the Netherlands. Each member writes new repertoire and they take turns in singing the lead and in playing guitar, banjo, mandolin, trombone and drums.
Especially their close-harmony vocals are very strong and is sometimes compared to Crosby, Stills and Nash. The band started out as the dream of friends Benjamin James Caldwell (NZ) an Olaf Caarls (NL), but only really began to take shape when Canadian folk/pop singer Dominique Fricot and Dutch songwriter Pieter van Vliet joined them.
This resulted in a European tour in 2014, after that a tour in Canada and another European tour in 2015. They also recorded their debute album in Lethbridge, Alberta. The album was released in August 2016 by the American Classic Waxxx Records label.
