Music of the Suriname Indians.
The music of the Suriname Indians is barely recorded and hard to find, and the little that is brought to stage or played at official occasions often is a poor substitute for the actual and rich music culture of the Kalinja, Wayana and other Indian people of Suriname. In this episode of the Source of Sound, the legendary Caribbean Indian or Kalinja music group Yamore, the Wayana CD by Hervé Riviére and recordings from the archives by Audrey Butt Colson and Jean-Michel Baudet from the CREM collection, the French centre for ethno-musicology.
