In our ‘living room’, Karin van den Boogaert and Charlie Crooijmans welcome various world music performers. Tonight our guest will be Monica Akihary.
Akihary is mostly known for the duo Boi Akih in which she has been playing for years with guitarist Niels Brouwer. Recently her album ‘Lagu Lagu 2’ has been released, with arrangements of traditional songs of the Moluccas, the archipelago where her family comes from. Akihary doesn’t stick to the same menu though, you could easily call her a musical omnivore.
In this episode of Acoustic Moods she will talk to Ton Maas in the light of musical fragments by artists who have inspired her.
