Henk’s Dutch teacher Henny de Ziel (author of the Suriname National Anthem) introduced him to Eddy Vervuurt, then director of Radio Apintie. With his talks and lectures, Henk was very much loved by Henny De Ziel. Almost one month after the Frowein school, Henk started the radio with ‘Het Moedersuurje’. Soon, he had several programs such as ‘Weet je weetje’, ‘Hoe wij hier tesamen kwamen’, ‘The Boss Twenty’, ‘Teenage Time’, ‘Ditjes en Datjes’, ‘Candle Light’, ‘Soul to Soul’, ‘The Smashplay’, ‘Down Memory Lane’, ‘Showtime’ en ‘Sportrevue’. . Henk was a broadcaster, program maker and journalist for 23 years.
As a vice president of the ‘Art and Culture Foundation’ in Suriname, Henk has been in charge of organizing the biggest music event in Suriname for 25 years, namely the composer festival ‘Suripop’.
