Field recordings of Alan Lomax from the Italian Piemonte and Valle d’Aosta.
Recordings from the Alan Lomax’s incredible library of field recordings. The CD Italian Treasury: Piemonte and Valle d’Aosta is really the most important on in this collection. Alan Lomax and his partner, Diego Carpitella recorded this in a short amount of time, in the fall of 1954. This a few years before Piermontese traditions would drastically change due to the arrival of television and the massive migration of young people to the large cities.
