Silence.

Music consists in the first place of sound, but for some composers silence was also an important part of a musical work. Today we pay attention to a number of these composers and to the ways they dealt with silence.

1 – Anton Webern. Symphony op. 21.
The MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Herbert Kegel.
2 – John Cage. Sonatas and Interludes.
Steffen Schleiermacher.
3 – Morton Feldman. Last Pieces.
Idem.
4 – Toru Takemitsu. Rain Spell.
London Sinfonietta conducted by Oliver Knussen.
