Live-recording of the Malinese blues singer and guitarist Samba Touré
The recording of the concert of the Malinese blues singer and guitarist Samba Touré took place at the Poppodium Hedon in Zwolle on 3 March 2019. The performance was particularly an ode to desert blues king Ali Farka Touré.
Touré discovered his love for music at a young age when his mother, as one of the first women, was allowed to sing with Ali Farka Touré, one of the most influential African blues musicians.
Samba Touré was influenced by and drawn into the music of griot and master guitarist Ali Farka Touré and got the opportunity to tour along with his band as a background singer and guitarist at a young age. The tour through Europe and the United States was a learning process wherein his mentor introduced him to a range of new music styles and influences. Farka Touré inspired him to create his own blues style and after the tour Samba formed the group Fondo. His first solo recording was a major success in Mali.
Meanwhile he has produced five solo albums and has made his name internationally. His last album Wande (which means the Lovers), was released in 2018 by Glitterbeat Records. Samba’s gloomy blues sounds are a feast to the ears.
