The String Quartet

wed 24 jul 2019 11:00 hrs

The String Quartet in A minor by Robert Volkmann is characterised by an allure reminiscent of Mendelssohn. At the same time, certain aspects of it point into the direction of the quartet in the same key written by his future friend Johannes Brahms in the 60s. Some experts say that Franz Lachner’s String Quartet in B minor opus 75 originates from 1843, while others believe it had already been written in the late 30s.
