This programme will feature “My People”, Ellington’s contribution to the Century of Negro Progress Exposition, which was held in Chicago from 19 August to 2 September 1963, to celebrate the century anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation by Abraham Lincoln on 1 January 1863.
