Music of Kyrgyzstan by the Kambarkan Folk Ensemble.
Because of its high mountains, Kyrgyzstan is also called the “Switzerland of Central Asia”. Since 1991, Kyrgyzstan has been a sovereign, independent and democratic state. Traditional Kyrgyz music and dance threatens to die out and to prevent this, the Kambarkan Ensemble was founded in 1988. The album The Music of Kyrgyzstan tells the songs the history of the nomadic people and their sheep and horse herds. The songs are accompanied by the “comuz”, the most popular Kyrgyz instrument.
