Concert of Etenesh Wassié Trio on 16 June 2019 at the Houtfestival Haarlem.
Etenesh Wassié Trio performed during the Houtfestival, location Stadspark (city park) Haarlemmerhout in the city of Haarlem on 16 June 2019. Etenesh Wassié is a diva in Ethiopia, she is a traditional singer who made her name in the nineties of the last century. She did this with adventurous improvisations based on traditional Azmari repertoire in the cabarets of Addis Ababa. In 2007, Wassié met the French guitarist and bass player Mathieu Sourisseau, and the trio was complete when double bass player Sébastien Bacquias joined.
It was the first time that Etenesh Wassié Trio performed in the Netherlands.

You hear two numbers of the Ethiopian singer Mohammed ‘Jimmy’ Mohammed.
Mohammed ‘Jimmy’ Mohammed died on 17 December 2006 from the effects of pneumonia. We play two numbers from the posthumous released live CD Hulgizey, which was recorded during a concert in the French town of Tourcoing.
