La Lecture
This episode is about the extraordinary life of Suzanne Manet née Leenhoff. She was a Dutch pianist and singer, and was married to the famous French painter Édouard Manet.
The cello and piano duo Oihana Aristizabal Puga and Lineke Lever has recently released a CD on which they follow the story of Leenhoff’s life in music: from her parental home in the town of Zaltbommel, where Franz Liszt came to visit, to the salons in Paris where the great composers, poets and writers of the period came round.
