Part 1 of “Juditha triumphans devicta Holofernis barbarie” of Antonio Vivaldi by Jordi Savall and his ensembles.
Antonio Vivaldi composed four oratorios; only one has been preserved. It is the story from the Bible about the Jewish heroin Judith who first charms the Assyrian warlord Holofernes, and, while he is sleeping it off after a copious meal, decapitates him.
Title: “Juditha triumphans devicta Holofernis barbarie”. This oratorio consists of two parts, in this episode, you hear the first part nearly in its entirety.
