Concerts from Kerkrade and Groningen, recorded by Concertzender
To start today’s episode, we’ll go to the Aula Minor of the Rolduc Abbey in Kerkrade. It’s a closing concert at the Orlando Festival. We go back in time to 2018, and we’ll listen to Larissa Groeneveld, who performs Bach’s third cello suite. It’s a beautiful overture followed by a joke made by Louis Andriessen and the Three Petrarch Sonnets by Liszt performed by tenor Hohvannes Andreassian. Charly Delbecq accompanies him. The young Dutch Virirde Kwartet performs the quartet by Haydn that represents sunrise, with a climbing violin in the first part.
The second part of this Concertzender Live Classical is dedicated to Debussy’s preludes. 2018 marked the 100th year of his death. As part of the Peter de Grote Festival, several fantastic pianists alternated performing the second book of Debussy’s preludes in the Lutherse Kerk in Groningen (city). Concertzender was there, of course.
