Soul Jazz from the fifties, sixties and seventies.

Today, Black is the Color: an episode about Black Jazz Records. Pianist Gene Russell started this label in 1970, intending to promote black jazz artists. Black Jazz brought a mixture of spiritual, committed jazz and funk and soul jazz. Tonight features a selection of its extensive discography of 20 released, with Dough Carn, Gene Russell, Rudolph Johnson and Cleveland Eaton, among others.
