There can hardly be any doubt – you must know Stockhausen, one of the greatest composers of the past century, by name. Not nearly everyone knows his music, however. If you listen to the Concertzender today, you can change that for yourself.
The high priest of post-war avant-garde pops up regularly in our concerts. Often, he has to share programs with other composers, but sometimes he has a concert of his own. In this program, you can hear not one but two versions of Kontakte, by two sets of performers. Upon its completion in 1960, this work made history as a work in which pre-recorded electronic sounds are combined with live music. You will also hear Glanz, a chamber music work from his final years. This work was only released after his death and has yet to find its place in the canon.
