Yannis Kyriakides was born in Limassol, Cyprus in 1969 , emigrated to Britain 1975 and has been living in the Netherlands since 1992. Yannis studied musicology at York University, composition with Louis Andriessen in the Netherlands and received a PhD from Leiden University for his research into multimedia composition. As a composer and sound artist he has made over a hundred and fifty works, comprising of music theatre, audiovisual installations and instrumental works. Prizes have included Gaudeamus, International Rostrum of Composers, Toonzetters and the Johan Wagenaar prize for his whole oeuvre. He founded the record label ‘Unsounds’, is a member of the ensemble Maze, and teaches composition at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.
