Musical junk loft.
With an orchestral rehearsal from the Fellini film ‘Prova d’Orchestra’ by Nino Rota that got out of hand. Frank Sinatra’s brutal departure from the Capitol label, for which he was contractually obligated to make one more album. The recordings were rushed through at breakneck speed: six songs in two hours, and after each song he tore up the sheet music and shouted ‘Next’, unwilling to do another take.
Also Jo Stafford on the joys of ‘indoor sport’, a special audition take of Doris Day for the film ‘Love me or leave me’ and a song by a man who was called the ‘Bald Mountain Caruso’: country pioneer Riley Puckett.
