Concertzender Live

Concerts from around the country, recorded by Concertzender

Piano solo, a trio and a quartet.

First up is Luka Okros. The young Georgian keyboardist performs several top hits from the repertoire for his instrument. The famous Impromptus by Schubert are followed by a beautiful Ballade by Chopin. And with Rachmaninof’s Moments Musicaux, he shows all the possibilities of a modern grand piano. Okros works magic with colours and nuances and his mastery of the keys is phenomenal. For the encore he throws in a spectacular Hungarian Rhapsody by Liszt. The poetry of the piano trio by Ravel following this may appear as a great contrast, but this nuanced Frenchman is also capable of great effect. At times, the piano and strings achieve an orchestral sound with widely spaced note passages. Another encore, this time by the incomparable Matangi Quartet. We imagine ourselves on a Mexican underground station.
