The travel journals of Charles Burney (1726-1814). Part 5: Journey through France and Italy: Bologna. Here Burney meets the famous castrato Farinelli and a young Mozart, among others.
In Bologna, Burney met Father Martini, who had the ambition to write a history of music. He also met Carlo Broschi, also known as Farinelli, a pupil of Nicola Porpora. Carlo Broschi knew Domenico Scarlatti who, like himself, was in the service of the Queen of Spain, and wrote many collections of sonatas for him.
And in the nick of time, Burney also met the young Mozart.
