Chamber music by Schubert – Miriam’s Song of Triumph, Minuets and German Dances.
This (for now) final episode of An Early Evening Stroll features chamber music by Franz Schubert, beginning with Miriams Song of Triumph. It is a work for soprano, choir and piano from the composer’s year of death. You could describe it as a cantata or small oratorio. One can hear influences of Georg Friedrich Handel – a composer Schubert had a growing interest in towards the end of his life.
In addition, we will be hearing a number of early works works for string quartet, and we conclude with a song for the beautiful combination of a male choir and 4 horns.
