New CDs with Early Music. In this episode, two recently released CDs with music for Holy Week by Dieterich Buxtehude and Charles-Joseph Van Helmont.

The first recording is a performance of the cantata cycle ‘Membra Jesu Nostri’ by Dieterich Buxtehude. It is a CD by the Dutch ensemble Luthers Bach Ensemble conducted by Tymen Jan Bronda.

The second CD features the complete ‘Leçons de Ténèbres’ by Charles-Joseph Van Helmont, who worked in Brussels in the 18th century. Despite the French title, they were composed in an Italian style. The performers are the Belgian ensemble Scherzi Musicali conducted by Nicolas Achten.
