In her own kitchen, Karin van den Boogaert received an old acquaintance from Acoustic Roots: Jono McCleery.
Singer-songwriter Jono McCleery had already been a guest on Acoustic Roots three times before, and with his fourth appearance in April, he now holds the absolute record. And rightly so: it’s always a pleasure to see and hear Jono. In March, he released material that had been sitting around for a while due to the COVID pandemic: Songs from Pagodes by the Jono McCleery Trio live.
Karin van den Boogaert talked to him about the songs featured on the album, how he’s doing, and what his new plans are. He also sang a new song dedicated to his brother who passed away six months ago. “Darkest Light” closed a session that was entirely intimate and fragile, in Jono’s style. Jono is welcome to come back to Acoustic Roots many more times.
